Start my business in January 2000 but have work as a building designer/draftsman the last 35 years. Also work with Local Government as a Technical Office with various Council hear in Queensland and Victoria. Work on design of roads and carparks. Very useful experience. I have prepare design work all over Brisbane region. Areas such as, Indooroopilly, Carina, Norman Park, Hendra, Aspley, Windsor, Kedron, Aran Hills, Enoggera, Gordon Park, Bribie Island, Elimbah, Glass Mountain, Palmwoods, Noosa. Just to name a few places. Extensions & Renovation projects design has always been in great demand. Work with builders on these projects.

Site Visit & Consultation

The site visit and consultation provides me with the opportunity to introduce myself and discuss the project with you and give advice. I will also measure the existing house if needed and check setbacks.

Liaison & Communication Skills

Having a good understanding of the project is very important. I will spend on average a good hour with the client to discuss the project. I also liaise with engineer and organise an on-site meeting with the builder before starting any design work.

Quality Drawings

Drawings need to be of good quality and accurate which is very important for the builders and engineers. Concept drawing includes the following: site plan, floor plan, elevations and 3D drawings. I ensure throughout the process that the client has an input into the design.

Townhouses

Contemporary townhouses design that makes good use and maximise the space on the development site. Avenir Design has provided great open space to living, dining and kitchen area. It is also very important to provide a practical and functional layout. They normally have three bedrooms upstairs and ensuite and bathroom. I work with the builders on this project and make sure that the design is done with the overall budget in mind.

House Design

The orientation of the new house is important tu us. Good orientation and position ensure that your home makes the most of solar heat and natural light. For instance, north facing windows are ideal for allowing in lots of natural sunlight in the winter months. The general principal of passive design principles is to have the living rm, family rm, dining rm and kitchen facing north. Great eave or higher window on the western side. Great range of house design have been done by Avenir. Typical low set brickveneer home, single and two storey dwelling. Have also designed high-end dwelling near Brisbane.

Extensions & Renovations

Extension and renovation to an existing house can sometime be a bit challenging. It is very important to sit down with the client and have a chat about the project. Having a good understanding of the client needs and outcome the are seeking is vital to a successful design. I offer one hour (1hr) site visit and consultation before starting work on any design. A lot of my design works have been in relation with proposed extension and renovation projects.

Patios, Decks & Carport Design

Proposed decks and patios need to be well designed. It is very important to make sure that the space for these projects is well used. Another important aspect of the design is to ensure that the decks and patios are spacious and functional. These areas are best located on the north of the existing dwelling where possible.
